We often talk to clients about Searcn Engine Optimisation (SEO) and 1 out of 5 clients think they totally understand SEO and can do it alone. These people still think that modifying keywords on their website and in the code (meta keywords, meta description and meta titles) is all it takes to be on page 1 in Google. We often have to secretly giggle about this outdated thinking and educate these individuals about the reality of getting onto page 1 in Google.com.au or Google.co.nz.
Good "Keyword Density"
Before engaging an SEO company for link building, there is a lot of SEO you could DIY from your CMS administration and save some money.
The key of good on-page SEO is the so-called "density" of the relevant keywords that you are targeting. Density is a mathematical term for the percentage of something that is relative to the total.
We want to make sure you have a good mix of your target keywords that are relative to the rest of all the content. Having too many SEO keywords on 1 page is not good and considered "spam" or Google also calls this technique "keyword stuffing" and condemns this practice as "black hat SEO for which you will get a penalty. You can only complete with the biggies in SEO with frequent and fresh writing, writing and more typing! A blog or a forum is the easiest way to not have to do all the writing yourself. You can encourage others to write relevant content on your website. This is the method facebook, myspace and all other big website have reached, by getting other people to SEO their website and lean back and watch the ranks explode.

SEO has become a very popular term these days.
Anyone that owns a website or has already done research about getting a website would have heard it once or twice before. Most medium and larger businesses are already engaging SEO services with some web design or SEO company.
As the title already says: the abbreviation stands for "Search Engine Optimisation" or often spelled "Search Engine Optimization" with a "z" (US version).
As you might have noticed, you are not the only plumber, electrician, general practitioner or solicitor that needs or already has a website, right? However Google page 1 only has 10 organic slots for 10 websites on the results page per keyword or combination of keywords. So how do you become one of these 10 so-called "free-search" results for your relevant search phrase? Therefore you need your website to rank in the top 4-5 for a competitive key phrase such as "plumber Sydney" or "Melbourne solicitor" and complete now with 50-100 other plumbers in Sydney or solicitors in Melbourne. Sounds like mission impossible right? Wrong!
You are lucky that you live in Australia and not in the USA or in the UK. Because in Australia 45 from these 50 plumbers are still relaxed and "laid back" and still don't even know what SEO is all about. Most Ausse small businesses are not investing pro-actively any money on "SEO", so you still have a good chance! These old and established businesses, although having a website, still get most of their business like they used to 10 years ago from yellow pages and word pf mouth. Therefore the internet has not yet become the main income stream for most existing businesses - In Australia that is! So the sooner you start to do SEO for your new start-up or existing website, the less likely will these 45 dreamers ever manage to catch up and "out-rank" you once you hit the top of Google if you had a the top ranks under your control first. Makes sense? Timing the key!
Talk to a professional today and don't wait another year or two before you find yourself in a USA-like situation where 50% of all competitors of your industry already engaged an SEO professional. That will make SEO for you much harder and more expensive and the top position will go to the company with the bigger SEO budget, and a small start-up company will have no chance anymore.

Before wasting a lot of time and energy inquiring for web design quotes and negotiating prices, you will need to understand that even the best looking website can be very ugly in the eyes of search engine 'bots' like Google, Bing & Yahoo. If the website is not built by a company that puts the efforts in SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) above a fancy website design and advanced web development features, then you are most likely going to be another website out there in the dark with 2 "natural" clicks per month.
When websites are not ranking on page 1, or even in the top 5 in Google for some industry relevant, competitive and high volume keyphrase, then only expensive pay-per-click campaigns or other secular "offline advertising" such as print, tv or radio will get respectable quantities of website visitors to your homepage.
Therefore, you shouldn't put off learning "What is SEO" for later. If you are thinking: "Lets get the website done first and think about SEO later", then think again.
