Google Adwords (Pay-Per-Click)
Adwords is one of the most common "Pay-Per-Click" (PPC) online marketing strategies that will list your website on page one in Google instantly. however, it's not always the best strategy to get traffic. Adwords is also often referred to as "SEM", meaning: "Search Engine Marketing", very unlike the organic SEO= Search Engine Optimisation. However, a combination of both is the best strategy for most internet based businesses in Australia.
You might have been offered free $50 or even $100 Google Adwords vouchers from various web designers or hosting companies as a bonus for signing up. This may sound like a very generous offer. Too good to be true? Well it is true but it's also dangerous and misleading. You do really get this free budget as they promise but be warned: However to begin you still need to enter your credit card details, you will be sucked into a money eating machine and once your free voucher expires (your Adowrds credit will be gone overnight if not done right) then the credit card will be charged to maintain your ads is you don't know how to set the frequency. rotation and daily budget.
You really need to engage a so-called "GAP Certified" and Qualified (Google Adwords Professional) Company like ours, to do at least the initial setup of your Adwords account. If you still think you want to manage it on your own, then you need to study 200-500 hours to also become GAP certified, or just let the Google pro's do their job and you focus on your own products or services.
Professional Adwords Management
There are many things the average person needs to learn before putting any Adwords campaign live. First and foremost: You need a large list of so-called "Negative Keywords". Negative keywords such as e.g. "image", "joke" or "free" are keywords used by people you really want to avoid. So if someone was to search "plumbing joke", then you as a plumber really do not want ad to show and to pay for this click on your ad from this person. nobody will tell you these things. To avoid a click from this person, the word "-joke" (with the minus) needs to be in your very long and well prepared and cusomised negative list ( e.g for the plumbing industr neg. keywords like "-Sydney if you live in Melbourne, or "-drain unblocking" if you don't have the equipment for this service and so on). This is one of 5 major key setup tasks that neither Google Adwords will tell you during the sign up, nor the company that fave you a free voucher to burn.
Do yourself a favor and don't waste 20 hours setting up your Adwords account, because you will end up thinking that Adwords and pay-per-click is too expensive and you will never again try it or even ask anyone to do it for you. That's what happens to many people that think DIY will save them money. They have bad experience with Adwords chewing up $1000 in 3 days and never want to look back or read a page like this one.
Talk to us before your Adwords suicide attempt. I have to criticize Google at this point for advertizing Adwords as so easy and fast to setup which leads many start-up companies into a trap for weeks or even months of burning money.

Paying for your Clicks
Online Marketing (also called Internet Marketing) is the key to getting traffic (clicks) from to your homepage. This is what all 'Designer For Websites" services are all about. Before we even start building your website, we will advice you on a unique strategy depending on your industry, your budget and your geographic target audience (one city or all Australia or maybe world wide?) There are many different online marketing strategies that are tailored from industry to industry differently, and with us you will get a lot of free advice and general 101 internet "must-know" information in advance no matter if you are our web design client or not.
Having a website alone is not going to do you any good unless you belong to one of the following two businesses: you are either already a very large company and have a large database of clients or you are a very successful and comfortable small company that gets enough business by word-of-mouth and you are not looking for more clients.
However, if you are a start-up company and you are hoping to escape employment and put your efforts into self-employment, then there is no way you can ever succeed without internet marketing. So before you get too excited about building a website, make sure you have allocated 75% of your budget into internet marketing and 25% for the website design.
SEO & SEM
Some people think that once they have built a website that Google or Bing will automatically deliver clicks and traffic to their homepage by just playing around with keywords in the titles and descriptions and meta keywords. Unfortunately those days are over and that's not going to happen. That might have been the case 15 years ago when there was only 1 plumber in Australia with a website, or even 10 years ago when there was only 1 plumber website in Melbourne. But today, there are at least 50 plumbers in Melbourne and over 100 in Sydney with websites. So how is google going to fit all these website on page 1 that only has 10 results in the free (organic) results and another 3-5 in the paid (sponsored) results? Well this is where services like "Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) or Search Engine Marketing (SEM; also called Pay Per Click)) are required for your website.
SEO and SEM are not the only methods of Internet Marketing but they are fundamental to get your first 100 clients or leads. Then after you have these clients or leads, you can learn more about retaining these clients or converting the leads into clients with strategies like Email marketing.
These and other online marketing campaigns such as Facebook advertising will get your website exposed to the right audience. The cost and the return of this investment can either make you or break you. The company you select is the key. Have a chat to us if you'd like to hear more...

If you were planning on sending frequent email newsletters to your clients after your website goes live, then be sure to talk to us before you get a juicy fine from local authorities and your domain name penalised by google for breaking many laws.
You should know, that even if you were emailing a database of existing clients in the past and still haven't experienced any of the mentioned consequences, that you were just lucky that you haven't emailed the wrong person yet.
In Australia and in most modern industrial countries it is absolutely illegal to send out promotional emails to clients without a clear consent to receive newsletters AND without the easy option to 'unsubscribe' (link at the bottom of the email) from further newsletters. Fines can be as high as $10000 for not knowing these facts.
I am mentioning this because I have met many clients that were doing exactly that without a proper email newsletter management system in place that would prevent these dangers.
Email Newsletter Management Systems like Mailchimp or Constant Contact are designed to automate most of these advanced options for you to ensure you are not breaking any laws and regulations. You can ask clients to subscribe on your website by pre-checking the newsletter consent tick box while purchasing an item or downloading some freebie e-book. There are many ways to incentivise your traffic to sign up to your newsletter legitimately without breaking any laws. You can be as cheeky about it as you want, but you have to ensure that at some point of time, that person checked, or didn't un-check the option of receiving a newsletter from your domain email account, otherwise you are just asking for trouble.
Our favorite email newsletter system is called 'MailChimp'. it is much easier to use than Constant Contact, has a lot more options and template and Mailchimp is much cheaper as well (100% free for smaller website users!).
Mailchimp can be added to your Joomla, Wordpress or Magento website (and any other CMS or custom html website even). It wil automatically collect the client emails and names to specific email lists that you can categorise and target by category or other demographic filtering.
Therefore, if you are interested in emailing your clients professionally, ask us for a quote to plug-in MailChimp to your website while or even after it has been built. The costs is lower than you beleive and MailChimp is even totally free for small users that want to try it.
